In November my grandma and grandpa will be married for 55 years. They where very clear on having no gifts but they didn't say anything about self made gifts. So I took the opportunity try out the new watercolours my grandma gave me and made a portrait.
Starting of with a sketch. Scanned it. Enlarged in in PSD. Printed it out.
Traced the back of the printed sketch with a smudgy pencil.
Drew over the sketch with the traced side on the paper.
If you look closely you can see that the traced lines left a mark on the paper. I didn't want to sketch directly on the paper because I didn't want the sketch to come three the paint.
The end result

Although it's been more then a year ago sinds I made this, I want to share it with you guys anyway.
The company I made this for is a cross-media production company. I got the assignment to create a christmas card. For a cross-medial company I found it a bit to easy to go for the standard group-photo-ish idea. Since they do a lot with video I came up with making a small video card aka a lenticular card with all the colleagues interacting with the company-logo.
It was a fun experience during the photoshoot, with everybody participating enthusiastically, and also quite daunting with me being in charge of the whole bunch. Eventually we pulled it all off, and I'm very happy with the end result. (the video doesn't really do the card justice though,... o well,... use your imagination.)

A small mash-up of the animatic, rough animation and the slightly less rough animation. Now busy with the clean up version where I'll be adding the details. I was mainly focussed on getting the general locomotion and timing of the animation locked down. It's now necessary to adjust the "stick-figure" so that it'll match the model-sheet.
